So Darn Lucky strumming

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

So Darn Lucky strumming

Post by fenster1977 »

Does anybody else here have trouble strumming the verse without hitting the low E on the first part and the A on the second? Are you supposed to mute those strings somehow, because when those open strings ring out it drowns out the song. Or does Dave simply avoid striking them in the first place?

Any advice here?

i hit them...they don't drone it out...the first chord is an E, the second is an A, so it works well...i usually hit the bass note on the first strum and not on the next...if you really need it, i can record a clip for you

I try not to hit them, but I do on ocassion. I know when he positions his fingers each time he moves them, the tip of his index finger is resting against the E and the A string respectively. It doesn't really sound that bad if you hit them, but you're technically not suppose to ;-) Just my 2 cents :-P
