i've had it since highschool (going on like 7 years) and its not great but not a huge piece of crap. anyhow my action is getting pretty wide and i'm wondering if there is anything i can do without going to a luthier, i dont think its worth it. can i adjust the truss rod or anything? shave down the bridge?

you can probably shave down the saddle without too much of a problem, you'd just have to be detailed about it..this place gives a good step by step guide with pictures:

I wanted to raise my action so i went and bought a bone saddle, hand saw and sand paper. traced the old saddle onto the bone one and made another. this is a good idea so you don't ruin the original.

Yeah, regular truss rod adjustments are highly recommended.

yeah, trying that first would be the best thing. but sometimes that doesn't work and a saddle adjustment is necessary
