I dream about playing the way you do. Sure, buddy. I dream of being good enough to sit down with a song and make it my own. I really dont want to play exactly like dave does, though I dont think you will understand that at all. I wouldnt mind being good enough to be able to play it exactly the way dave does, but if I was that good I wouldnt be trying to play TB the way you are. Make any sense?

Wow. Just wow. I won't even respond to the last statement, except to say get out of your shell. You know what my buddies and I say when we sit around and jam, and a Dave song comes into rotation? "Wow, I wish I fuckin wrote that." Not, "man, I wish I could play that just like he does." Like I said, I wouldnt mind being good enough to play it just like dave. That doesnt mean I'd do it. I guess we're on two different paths.

Im driving down to the forum in LA to go see phish tonight, so I must bow out of this lovely conversation, at least for the rest of today. If you want to keep going with this, be my guest.

I don't want to be Dave....I want to be me that knows how to play Dave songs....I like to learn them accurately then if I feel like I want to add my own stuff then I will....and if I don't then I don't....and I don't need anyone to approve it for me...

I think that people that take a Dave tuen and add their own thing then good for them...I like to hear variation...

BUT in the end it means jack shit...it's all for shits and giggles...

Peace,
