Strumming on Grey Street

I am having trouble with the strumming for the verse of Grey Street. I thought it was just a downstroke on each chord but after watching the "Videos" I noticed that is wrong can anyone help me out. Thanks!

I do a downstroke on everyone in the verse except for the

I play that chord on an upstroke...

with most or all of daves songs, i've found you just have to strum away. just keep the rhythm with your strumming hand. then try to work in the fingering around the strumming

same.. i strum like hell on this song.. dave does too.. just watch any video.. he's strumming like crazy

I too just strum now. Tried to play it with downstrokes throughout but it was too hard to keep a good rhythm going. Now I just hit the 5xx6xx part with an upstroke. Doesn't sound too bad, but I still think Dave somehow hits it with a downstroke. But at least now I can keep a rhythm going.
