Cool edit Wav to MP3?

Hello all that read this..

Can someone inform me on how to convert a Wav file that was created with Microsoft sound recorder & convert into a wav. Should I do it through Cool edit Pro? (recording the Wav) or Can I convert one using the standard sound recorder? I downloaded a wav to mp3 coverter and it came out crazy...all sorts of distortion. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I meant Convert Wav to Mp3 in the first sentence.....Sorry

Never Mind..I was using a crappy converter.
