Cello and piano are quickly becoming my favorite instruments as well. They can be very delicate but also very powerful.

Ian- Im using my guitar to get those drum sounds. There's a built-in mic so it pics up all the knocks and bangs on the wood. Basically played it like a bongo. And the shaker is just one of those little plastic eggs filled with rice.

Thats what I thought, I've messed around with that a lot but I can never get it to sound right. It always ends up sounding really weak. Ive always used a mic though, I've never thought of plugging it in to get that sound. I'm gonna have to try that, Thanks man.

this a cool piece. i'd give the tapping part to different instrument, and i definitely wouldn't end on the tonic (root) with that phrase. it kind of cheapens it. some of the best advice i've gotten compositionally is to never end on the root like that. your voice has gotten a ton better in the past year, and i really like how you're experimenting with new instruments.

Originally I wanted to put the tapping part solely on piano but had trouble playing it the way I wanted (I wanted sustain in certain parts of the phrase but not in others). I figured if I ever record it in a studio, I'd either have someone play it on violin or another instrument that would have it stand out, but not too much.

As for ending on the tonic, I suppose that was a rather uncreative cop-out on my part. It seemed like a better idea than a fade out. But now that I'm thinking about it, I'll probably end it with a weird variation of the tonic, perhaps with a suspension or as a 7th chord. You know, something to give it some dissonance.

It might be a little on the bouncy side but it is fun to play. I'm having a hard time promoting myself. I feel so icky afterwards. I just started my own website but I'm pretty much obscurity on youtube. So I have to start thinking up of ways to draw more viewers other than my music alone (cause apparently that ain't cuttin' it).

It is a little bit skeezy...and you just get teenage girls viewing your videos, but you'll get subscribers out of it. I think you would do a mean "Single Ladies" by Sasha Fierce. Other than that, the only advice I have to give about getting yourself out there is to play tons of open mic nights and start making local connections.
