I need a new guitar

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

I like ovation's sound and their applause are not bad too if you want a lower price. the only bad thing is you need to get used to the round back which is not as hard as it seems

Check out an Alvarez in that price range, or just wait a couple months and save up for a Martin or Taylor.

yeah, take a look at Alvarez. Tacoma makes some good stuff that's not too expensive. Personal preference would not even allow me to check out an ovation. I've nver heard one I liked (no offence to anyone here, just personal preference). Or, save up for a little longer and get something that you'll really wanna keep for a long time! Good luck!

I think most low end Martins aren't worth it.

But I could be wrong, I've never played that one..

I don't think there is anything wrong with low end martins. last week i played a solid spruce top with solid rosewood back and sides alvarez. It sounded good but NOT EVEN CLOSE to the Martin DM. I don't know how they do it but Martin's sound better even if they are the "lower end" models.
