higher action?

i hadnt played for like a week and the other day i picked up my guitar to find that the action seemed to be alot higher than it has been every since i have owned my guitar. i have been using dampit for humidy and im not sure if that could have caused the action to raise or if i am just going crazy. would a guitar have to be too dry for the action to raise or too wet?
