So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

if he's only playing with them for one show, you wouldn't even have to do a regular stringing. just enough to loop them once through the whole..

I'm guessing after every show or at least every other show. The only thing is that it would sound really tinny if they were brand new but what do I know.

I bet he gets them for next to nothing for advertising them.. i've seen numerous adds with dave and his 914 and having D'addario string box next to him in guitar magazines.. so yeah, he gets them for next to nothing..

My strings wear out quickly. Lots of sliding. Especially when I buy uncoated strings...Anyone else?

There are several ways to stretch out new strings so they won't go out of tune like they normally would , but i think that someone like Dave's roadie probably puts new ones on right after a show and let them stretch out till the next day / show , thats how i would do it

Even if they were put on before soundcheck that would be lots of time to have the strings settle.
It doesnt take much to overtune them to a higher pitch, then detune them again to concert pitch. That'll keep them from going nuts when you play them the first time. I like the sound of the strings too, when I do that.
