i love your signature firedancer!
Everybody always asks me how she's doing. Has she really lost her mind? I said "I couldn't tell you, I've lost mine."

i gave fire an in depth critique of his singing because i felt that he would appreciate it and know how to take it. i'd hardly say he didn't sing in key. there's a HUGE difference between not being in key and losing the tuning on a few notes. i'll give you an in depth critique singing of yours, since you seem to want it. give me a moment to listen to it again.

you song starts out a little sloppy vocally. by :11 it cleans up.

you say to fire that you can hit the high notes. i thought those were the weakest point of the song. you have no support at all and do it all from straining the throat. then you don't give the notes any air at all. it's really hard to produce sound like that, and usually, you don't want to hear sound produced like that. the notes are somewhat shrill and tinny, and lack depth, just like some of the stuff i mentioned to fire. you NEED to use your diaphragm. also, most of those notes you started out flat, slid into pitch, but never quite made it and just held it there. you almost make it over the top, but most you leave a little flat and short of the mark. this is most apparent between 1:51 and 1:57

at the very end, some most of the second "fade's" start out in tune, but they slide a little sharp. this is most likely because you do a lot of sliding into pitch instead of hitting the notes dead on. sometimes that's good. other times it's not. and one needs to be able to control when that happens. however, the last time around, you keep it nice and in tune for a solid finish.

overall a fine performance. i think that both fire and you struggle in similar areas. but i think that both are fine singers and can get better. overall, i'd say jason's was a little more consistantly solid. however, i think that fire's had more really good moments vocally. also, i think typical situation is much harder to sing that what you sang jason.

so there it is.

yea, so let me hear someone sing over So Much To Say, thats a challenge...honestly dave is fuckin tough to cover...like really tough... when you play your originals tico, I'm impressed....but to tell you the honest truth...and im fuckin being dead honest in my opinion....when you play dave, I think it's just "decent"...

like, I listen to my PJ cover and then a DAve cover of mine, and I think that two different people are singing...I dont like how my voice sounds in dave songs......................To me it is a real test to sing and play a dave matthews song really well...like it's fuckin impossible.

but thanks for the critique. late.

tico, that sounds like way to fuckin much critiquing and criticizing to in the end say that was overall a fine performance...that just shows to me that you dont know what the fuck you are talking about, to say that many negative things and to in the end say that it was an overall "fine performance"...like, what the fuck is that? If I were to read this post without the fact that in the end you said it was a "fine performance" I would think the guy you were critiquing was the worst singer in the world.....You probably think Dave is a bad singer to dont you? I would really like to hear you sing a dave cover like dave...i wait, tripping billies.

i told you i was going to be picky. i don't know what you're looking for...

and you're the only one on the whole board who has had anything less that wonderful things to say about my covers, and given the continual proof that you yourself provide that you know nothing about music, your opinion doesn't mean much at all to me.
