A little help with # 40

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

A little help with # 40

Post by jjcucio »

I just attempted playing #40 (always), having trouble with it, any suggestions to make it a bit easier.

It can be tricky sometimes. Play with a recording. Over and over and over and over.

I just think its the fact that the finger positioning is not "normal dave" so i am having issues with getting my fingers to where they have to be while keeping up with the beat. Other songs like it would help me get out of easier chords and make me a bit better...suggestions?

I use my thumb for the first fretted LOW E... it helps me with this chord--

1xxxx then xx2010... it's alot easier, but that's just my two cents...

practive and have fun!

think C

Post by acusticdude »

I play this song pretty much the way dave does, I'm pretty sure it's based primarilly around the open C chord. You just kinda run down the bass notes (Astring) 3-2 then that weird F which is a open C with a F bass note, then using your pinky, fret the G bass note at the 3rd fret. you'll notice you are basically forming a C with a G bass note. Then back into it. I hope that was clear and helpful and I am not just stating the obvious, I am new! Andy

Like I said before, practice with the recording. Implement the advice given here.
