They tried that. Remember the Lillywhite sessions? The album that the entire band agreed to scrap because it didn't feel right? I'm pretty confident that the band could produce the next album on their own, but they'll probably bring a producer in for a neutral second opinion on everything. If I had to guess, I would say Steve Harris, since he just did Dave's solo album and seems to have built a pretty good friendship with them.

They built there own studio so I amagine they would do it on there own. They out grew Lillywhite and Harris is just okay I guess.

That doesn't mean you produce your own CD. I second the vote for Lanois, he's a producing genius.

Shouldve never ditched lillywhite. He added so many little things...like the segues in btcs. Those were all him. The ping pong game during the jam in liog on crash...all lillywhite. He just had a way with making an album flow.

Anyway, he's not coming back. I just hope they dont have Steve Harris produce again. He tried to capture the bands raw sound in Busted Stuff, but instead of it sounding like UTTAD it just came out flat. Lanois would be interesting.

well, I guess I am the only one who likes Steve Harris, then. Also, I bet they will reunite with Steve Lillywhite . . . but not for quite a while. I am sure they are either going to do it themselves, or have someone new come in to co-produce, and yes Daniel Lanois would be awesome, but what is Stefan produced it? Stefan has prdouced 2 albums, right? I think putting stefan in the driver's seat would be a very new sound.

So, who's with me? We should make signs that say Let Stefan Produce ;) . That really would be different, and I bet very fresh sounding.

i dunno bout that one, i mean i'm sure stefans wide range of music would help, but i think theres gotta be someone "non-partial," somebody outside the band

but then again, as long as its not glen ballard i'm happy :D

Look at Soulive. Coolest sound ever, and they incorporate hip hop into some of their material and it sounds great.

I agree. Remember that version of When The World Ends on the Matrix Reloaded soundtrack? That was horrible. I don't need any more of that sort of thing.
