Help with "Stay"

I started playing stay by strumming a Bb barred chord and while this sounds real close, I see that the tabs only list two of the notes in that bar.

Intro

B:-------------------------------
G:-10\---10---8---7---8---7---8-- <---finger 4(1on 1st 8)
D:-8-\---8----8---5---5---6---6-- <---finger 1
A:-x-----x----x---x---x---x---x--
E:-x-----x----x---x---x---x---x--

So............

how do you only play the 8 and 10? how to mute the other 4 strings? And second off--why do this---the full barre chord sounds fuller, and in my opinion just as good.

Any help would be appreciated.

Also---is this intro using "double stops" and again, if so, why?

Play it how you want.Music is interpretation. play it how you think it sounds best. that is just how dave plays it

Yea he plays it like that for sure, and its easy as shit to mute the 4 other strings. That was the first song I ever learned by dave, its easy.

use your index on 8 your pnky on 10 and use your middle fingers to mute th first two strings that should do the trick

he doesn't mute that much. He just mutes the two strings around the fretted string (except for palm mutes, of course).
