So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Just gotta keep practicing and trying new things. Make sure you learn all the open chords on guitar, barre chords and power chords, then the Dave chords and just keep trying new songs.

You ever need help just ask, and if you are really stuck someone is always willing to make a audio/video recording for you.

A power chord is pretty much a barre chord without the barre.

These are an example of the standard power chord shapes and can be slid up and down the fretboard with the fingers in the same position

Code: Select all

e |------------
B |--------8---
G |-----7--7---
D |--7--7--5---
A |--7--5------
E |--5---------

its cool... it will come... wanna know a good song to abuse your power chords.... Ramones Blitzkrieg Bop... then start learning open chords chords.... Blues Traveler "Run Around" G C Am D... Once you can do that jam to All Along the Watchtower... Just use Am G F ... .. ... pretty much watered down version of my start... but when I taught drums I realized that technique is tops but when you get bored of solely working on technique you need to be able to break from it and just enjoy playing your instrument.... Finding easy songs you know you can play and not get frustrated with is probably the best way to do that

GOOD LUCK!

i started playing guitar 4 years ago and i jumped right into dave from the start. some may tell you that it would be too difficult to start with and they give u suggestions which are all very good. everyone on here has been playing guitar for a long time and most of them know what they are talking about. it all boils down to what YOU want to learn. i started out with 41 and lie in our graves. now 4 years later im pretty good at a decent amount of dave songs. this year alone ive gotten dramatically better. i have even started branching off onto my own stuff. you see it just takes time and practice. most of all play becuz you enjoy it. dont play if u just get frustrated. if that happens put the guitar down and come back to it later.
