Actually, flash-based websites are widely frowned-upon. They did a good job though.

Sometimes yes , but if people were so tired of Flash , it wouldn't have made it up to 7 versions , and more than 680 million people world wide with the plugin installed

yeah. a lot of really bad design and long load times, poor navigation, etc. etc. at least from major artists. ugh. can't believe people are paid to make such fancy crap that frustrates more than helps.

Depends who the designer is and what the site goals are about i guess , but Flash is far from bad , and a well build site will load very fast , the problem is that most designer use it in a wrong way , and forget to compress the contained graphics properly , and that will make a Flash file become big , still , animation is the future of the net , people want more interactions , but as Isaac said , poor navigation , weak load times , is something you see too often , its such a shame
