WOW if ya think about it SRV being a natural talent just makes him a better guitarist
"when i step into the light my arms are open wide when i step into the light my eyes searching wildly" DMB
honestly don't know how much better he could get, or how much greater he could be percieved....and i mean, i don't know if it's necessarily just 'natural talent' either...the man played ALL the time to get where he got...something special no doubt...he's my real dad

Of course, I have no actual proof that this is the case, but I heard him say it in an interview(a really old interview before his helicopter crashed). By the way, there's a "traffic reporter" in Cleveland who calls herself "Holly-copter." That's good shizzle.
yeah so...
are you saying Timmy's better because he can read music?
Chill out, Andy...I was agreeing w/ the concensus here...I think it makes SRV even better, the fact that he couldn't read music. Timmy's great, but Stevie Ray is one of the best ever.
I just read all 8 pages of this so please forgive if these thoughts seem random. First, they should not be compared...but here are a few thoughts.
1) Tim can play a MUCH wider range of styles than SRV (not saying thats good or bad)...IMO if Tim chose to stick for one for the most part, he would not be what some dumbass that will go unnamed a "guitar center employee" or something like that.
2) from some of the posts it seems like people are saying that tim using effects is a crime or something....he does it well and it would not be a strech to say that it adds to his performance... he usually doesnt have a band behind like SRV did
3) Contrary to popular belief tim is NOT all speed....please listen to some of his stuff
4) i dont think its arguable that SRV has more musical knowledge than Tim....not even close IMO.
5) please dont attempt to argue that your guitar teacher is better than Tim reynolds or say that he lacks talent because he hasnt "made it big" yet.
---im sure there is more to say i just cant think of it atm....flame away gcom
