Trouble playing guitar whilst standing...

Post by goalten106 »

ok... weird question/comment here. so i recently bought a strap for my guitar and im having trouble playing standing up. i think its because im used to playing while sitting where i can kind of tilt the guitar back so i can see the fretboard more easily and whatnot. when im standing, i can't see the fretboard as it's more out and in front of me.

ive been playing for over a year so im automatic with the basic chords and can play a lot of stuff without looking at the fretboard. i guess it's just the new position of the guitar that takes some getting used to.

has anyone else had this problem? or how do you guys strap on your geetar? lower (i.e. pop-punk style) or higher (i.e. dave)? any advice?

thanks...

P.S. could've titled this thread "having trouble with my strap-on" but didnt want to be trite with misleading albeit "hilarious" title

I think its easier, though I used to have problems with it, hike that baby up and itll be easier, and you can always lean it into you and look over the guitar if you want but you should get used to not having to.

If you're playing a dreadnought, it probably is a bit harder...I'm not graet with my dreadnought while standing, but the thinner body of my chet is much easier to play on..
