Old dave or new?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Old dave or new?

Post by Twostep13 »

I thought i posted this topic before, but i dont see it here. sorry if i made a mistake....But i wanted to know what dave fans liked more, the old dave or the new one. As in his songs, guitars, style....things like that
I like the old one, his songs were cooler becuase they had more distinct sounds and IMO better lyrics...like twostep, recently, warehouse, etc, i also loved the chet atkins sst he played alot back then... its my next major purchase....what does everyone else think?

I don't mind his new approach style in music , it just shows he is open minded , sure the chet days were great , but his Taylor days right now are just as good :)

Its just the cycle of the musician. When he was young he had more energy and a lot to say. The band got popular and he and ran with it. Now Dave is older and he's already experienced greatness and he's said all he wanted to say. Dave is an adult now and his views have changed and in a big way he is settling down.
I don't like to say if i liked the old or new dave, its dave. Its a cylce, one day he'll be dead.
Wow, that came out pretty deppressing. I just finished my morning shit where i read the new Rolling Stone interview with dave. He is kind of focused on death right now.
I liked the old dave :(

I definitely like the old DMB better, but that's only because their new shows have Everyday/other crap on them. I still think they pump out great versions, maybe even some of the best versions of the old songs. Right now, I think the best version of So Much To Say is the 7-27-03 one. And it has nothing to do with the fact that I was there  ...seriously though, I listen to that one the most. And same with the DDTW from that show. He screamed his head off that night, and put so much emotion in those songs. Those were the best versions of those songs IMO. Even better than CAASH SMTS which I never would have said 2 months ago. Dave is still Dave and I love him, but the old "songs" are much better, so I guess the old band I would rather see.

just to point out.... i like dave period, old or new.... but i just thought it would be cool to see him at trax, or millers, or the legendary pink warehouse (i think it was the pink warehouse), that would have been so cool, and an awsome experience to have.

I think that Dave's new music is just as good as old Dave's music. His new songs have got me singing right along with the CD. I think he has matured as a song writer and guitarist (not to mention his first two CD's had alot of tunes he had compiled over the years before he formed the band.) He can still get it on like in the old CD's. I think we all have to remember busted stuff was all cutting room songs, and Some devil was material the band never latched on to. With all that in mind He still put out some great shit like You never Know, So damn lucky, Grey street, grace is gone, Bartender, You get me High (I am not sure on the name.) and dodo. Not bad for a couple of years work.

I doubt he'll ever play at the places he played when he was just starting out
