bass help.

Topics about musical instruments other than guitar should go here. There's bound to be a Carter, LeRoi, or Yo-Yo Ma out there.

bass help.

Post by violenticecream88 »

id like to tune my 5 string to E A D G C. aside from getting the lighter gage strings is it gonna hurt the bass to be at that tuning? or to go back and forth between the 2 (BEADG and EADGC) having 2 sets of strings

Generally not a good idea to switch between tunings.

Well, I don't know how often you plan on changing strings on the bass, but you should be okay, save for a quick truss rod adjustment. If you have a well-constructed bass, I don't think it would be much of a problem.

edit: I wouldn't go back and forth between BEADG and EADGC on the same bass very often, if at all. I'd have two basses, one for each tuning.
