My music? Need some Feedback
This is my first post on this board so I thought I would just post some of my songs. They are all originals and just me playing. Just looking for some feedback and advice. Thanks-

First i'd like to say your music is fantastic... i'll go into more detail about each song as they come.... im wondering if you'd ever be interested in doing a collaboration of some sorts... here's my website with my music: http://www.eastofbeautiful.com/music.html
given my self - the intro sounds a little busy but it seems to clean itself up by :30 .. your voice is something that i could imagine becoming epicly popular.. reminds me of bob dylan at points and then at other points i can say i've not heard much like it... the little trill at 1:33 or so sounds a little busy... i think the song overall could use a bass boost. 1:57 the "high" has a weird tremelo in your voice... but that's so minor i wouldnt worry about it. overall i think the song is fantastic. i think you'll be one hell of a great person to have around the community
(at :45 it sounds like you tried to come in with another guitar sounds a little funky but nothing too noticable). that's the nitpicky stuff... but like i said the song sounds beautiful... you'd sound fantastic with a band behind you... i'd pay to see you
i gotta go though to work.. the rest of the songs will download i'll respond to those later.
/x

Hey thanks, I would love to do some collaborating. Yea that song does get a bit busy at times, and I thought I took off the other guitar part but i wasnt sure. The other guitar part was played by a drummer friend(who'd only been playing guitar for a year) who just had to play on the song. heh drummers..... anyways thanks for the advice.

hey man, great stuff. really really good. quality guitar and a good voice. i'd agree with some of the statements xoosh made about things getting a little busy at times, and this is a matter of personal taste, but i like the quality and tambre of your voice on the verses of given myself more than i do on the chorus. it's got a really meaty, earthy grind to it that's great, and very dylan-esque. on the chorus, i don't know if you flip into a falsetto or head voice or something like that, but it becomes too washed out and nasal, and doesn't have the tonal richness that the voice for the verses do. this is all pretty nitpicky and technical though. however there are other places in your music where I feel the same way. but hey, if that's the sound you're going for and you like it, it's your music. again, good stuff. i've got some stuff up on the web , too. it's all at http://www.davidson.edu/personal/halarson/home.htm

Yea the more i listen to it the more jumbled it sounds at times. I listened to it again and this is just the solo version of the song(no drummers playing guitar,
) i think the weird little sound when my guitar changes tone is when I strum with my finger instead of my pick, sometimes i get kinda sloppy. My other songs have some slide guitar playing in them and Im very new at playing slide, so they might have some noticable mistakes. I will definatley check out both of your guys' music.

given myself - i agree with xoosh completely about the intro- it sounds great after about 30s. the first lines i actually thought were sung by dylan.
might want to make your voice a little louder in the last chorus, it kinda slipped under the guitar for a second there. other than that, great song.
will reply for the rest of the songs when i get a chance to hear them

Everybody always asks me how she's doing. Has she really lost her mind? I said "I couldn't tell you, I've lost mine."

Well, to me it's sounds great man.!..none of this bullshit, "well maybe if you fuckin went a little higher on 2:10.45453243 second of the song, it would be a little better. Oh yeah, and the 1:09.0954344095 part of the song needs to be a little quicker, and how could we forget the 0:46.346567345 half note?"............well, you get the idea...
sounds great man, you're good....shit, enough said.

i've only listened to one of the songs so far, but i've got to say, your music is the most impressive i've encountered on these boards. not that you're doing anything blazing crazy on guitar, or something like that, but the stuff you record is really easy to listen to....i think it's that you have a unique style, but an orthodox one at the same time...it's something that a lot of people can enjoy. good luck with it...and congrats on making me nervous to post any of my stuff!

Hey thanks everyone. I was sitting around this afternoon and I decided to write/record a new song. I thought it would be cool to set up a mic, and record any lyric or song that came to my head. This was the first and only take, because I liked it so much, athough its on the long side. Tell me what you think. The lyrics may be a bit jumbled because I was making them up as I went along and i kinda had to reach for some subject matter

No, I wish it was
actually its a $300 washburn that i really love. I went to a guitar store and I was playing alot of different ones. and this one was the prettyest sounding and looking suprizingly. But I was thinking about buying something really nice for my second guitar. Either a Lakewood, Collings, Santa Cruz. Tell me if you have some advice about any of those. Thanks-

lakewood will get you the best bang for the buck BY FAR! the collings and santa cruz are both VERY nice instruments, but unless you have like $5000 to spend, i'd do with the lakewood.
