how do you all mute unused strings in warehouse?

by the way you rrest your fingers, they naturaly hit the few strings he mutes when playing. Then he gets to the octives, and you just basicly strum them with the one muted string between. Also, normaly, like on warehouse's verse, youare strumming the one note fretted with the string below muted by the way you let your finger rest, and then you strum with 2 fretted strings while muting one below, and then you go for 3 with the mute, then you do the same with just going up. That's it.
