By "it" I mean playing dreadnaughts. I really wanna get my hands on a Jumbo or Grand Concert. I would make acceptions like if I had a DM3MD. Over all tho, I think that I need a different guitar shape.

Anyone agree? Anyone think that guitar shape really matters that much?

peace

PS: I rarely play electric-acoustics if that makes a difference to anyone.
I love you oh so well, like a kid loves candy and fresh snow.

yeah...guitar shape matters in terms of sound and comfort. for me, the grand auditorium of my 414 was the best way to go.

I actualy like the dreadnaught the most. It fits well with my finger picking styles, and I am most comfortable with. Right after that I love Jumbos. I like to play more agressivly on jumbos, and get that huge sound. I also prefer arch top electrics over flat tops (falt meaning strats, just the feeling and playing for it. Also, if you look, les pauls are normaly slightly arch topped)

Other than the dreadnaughts, jumbos, and arched les pauls (like the standard, studio, custom, classic, and so on) I don't really like other bodies of guitars.

i have a mini-dred that i just adore. it's not as fat on the bottom as the bigger dreds but holds it's own to the grand concerts.

if i mute right i can get some twang out of it, and can almost make it sound very banjo-esque when plugged in.

I think you are blowing steam out your arse there  Typically one would call a grand concert body a "finger picking body" because it has the most balance of sound and is usually more accessible to finger picking (but that is not to say you can't strum on it.. on the flip the dread is useful what one would call a "flatpicking body" because typically it is really full and powerful and designed for stumming chords (but that is not to say you can't finger pick on it, of course you can).

With that said, maybe a dread does fit better with your style of finger picking, but that would be highly out of the norm..

Acoustic Guitar Body Sizes and Styles has some description for each

My personal guitar choice is a grand concert with a slightly wider string spacing down at the saddle to give more string-to-string space for finger picking (my dominate style).

Yep, its pronounced cadaray,
and If you wanna listen to some kelly Joe phelps(sorta like an all acoustic ben harper) heres a site with some amazing live downloads of his:
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/riverratjimmy/pages/audvid.htm

The Kcrw Morning becomes eclectic show(under streaming audio), Stuttgart, Arkansas, and the first E-town are the best on that site.
