i bought this guitar about two months ago, and it's really playing well. When i changed my strings though, i noticed that a few...maybe 3 or 4 of the bridge pins had cracks/splits at the bottom.
my question is how the hell did that happen? did i tune my strings too high to cause such a crack? by the way the bridge pins are ebony.

ebony pins are much more fragil than the plastic ones.
i remember when i went into the guitar shop with one of those plastic ones broken and the guys seemed really impressed that such a thing had occured.
you can get tusq pins which are even denser and stronger.
this is actually just something that happens. i don't think it is indicative of anything wrong with the guitar. if you have serious concerns, you can always bring it to a qualified tech.
