I've been trying to play the liog verse for ages, but I cant get the strumming part down. I even watched some videos on youtube for that, but it's still impossible for me to copy it
I recorded the verse with my attempt of the strumming and without. Maybe you can give me some hints.
took a listen to the 2nd one - sounds like you have the notes down fine, i would suggest being a little "stronger" with your strumming though - play that first D chord like you mean it, let it ring for a sec you know? just sounds like you could put a little more energy in it
what you need to do, like he said, is put a lot more energy and feel into it. specifically, don't hit the open D string befoer you hit the first chord. just hit the chord.
for the rest of it, you gotta try to just strum every note instead of picking it if you want to get the right sound. its very hard to do at the beginning, but once you get into dave's style it gets easier. try muting the strings around the notes you're going for, and be as accurate as you can while still "strumming".
if you need reference, there are videos stickied at the top of the forum.

oops sorry. I didnt make phrase myself right last time. With strumming I actually meant strumming the muted notes. Thanks for your tips though, I will put a bit more energy into my playing.
Well, the problem is that I cant strum the muted notes right.
If you compare my audio files with the video it should be obvious. When I listen to that video, it sounds like a mix between muting the strings and playing some notes at the same time and I have no idea how he's doing that.

Well the guy in the video is just being lazy and not laying his fingers across to mute properly, either that or that's the effect he's going for. Just choke all the notes on those mutes.
