I think he uses index middle and ring, at least that is the way I'm practicing it. As to the how can he do it so fast. Well he's just that damn good.

DAMN good
alot of people dont realize it because all theyve heard is wonderland and no such thing, which are both very easy
Everybody always asks me how she's doing. Has she really lost her mind? I said "I couldn't tell you, I've lost mine."

I wouldn't say that No Such thing is very easy. It's not insanely hard but I mean some of those chords are tricky to hit and to get the right rhythm takes a fair amount of practice. and to sing to it adds an extra hard challenge. It's a fun song but its not easy to do well.

YBIAW, on the other hand, is much easier.

but that's my opinion
good, and you?

i agree that no such thing is harder to play and sing at the same time but i find it easier to just play than ybiaw

I gotta go with grave on this one. No such thing took me a couple of days to rough out because of the number of chord variations and some of the jazz chords that are used, ybiaw on the other hand only took me a couple of hours to rough out. I will say though ybiaw has kinda a funny rhythm that was a little tricky and I have'nt tried to sing to it yet. As for neon, well that song is probably gonna take me longer than it took me to learn to sing and play the stone. But damn it's cool so I gotta try. Plus my roomate basically challenged me by telling me I could'nt learn it. lol

One thing that would be nice. John Mayer has started doing a column for acoustic guitar world. He did no such thing in the first one maybe somewhere along the way he'll explain in depth how to play neon.

Got a realllllly stupid question regarding the Neon tab off Cath's site...
It says drop low E way down to a C - right this is the question...how the hell do you do that? Can you do it with a tuner? It's just I've never detuned my guitar, all I know is how to do a Drop D. But could someone plz tell me how I lower the E to a C? Cuz not sure.
Thanks.

When you hit the E string at the 5th fret , then its the same as the A string in standard tuning , when you tune down to a drop D , hit the E string at the 7th fret , and it will be the same as the A string , when you tune down to C , hit the E string at the 9th fret , and it will be the same as the A string :)

Hope this helps
