no shit! i love most of y'all around here but jeezuz christ!
this song is dave fucking around in the studio with time to kill and this is what came out. does the band have anything to do with it (other than playing a crappy live version)? NO!! is this song any indication of where the new album is headed or what DMB's future holds? probably not.
bense27 wrote:hahaha that was actually a cool video. And the song doesn't sound bad considering Dave played all the instruments. I will be very surprised if this isn't on the new album. Dave is obsessed with it.
Of course he's obsessed with it. The song he did for the video is really funky but goes with the video. If it was just the regular song it would have just been weird. I love the metaphors in the video too. Really puts his points out there. He is a true artist. That word gets thrown around too much "Oh he plays guitar and wrote a song? Hes an artist" Stupid.
I'll have to admit that at first I was appalled by the studio version of this song, but it has really grown on me. I'm finding myself singing it in my head in class. I guess it just took some time. The video is still a bit out there.
I get the impression that Dave did this to get it out there and out of his system. Since the D&T, D&F and DMB versions are so different not only from one another but from this solo version, I wouldn't be surprised if they record an entirely different version for the new album. If it makes the cut.

Well, I have a feeling that it is probably going to be a song that Dave will fight up and down to get on the album. He really does seem to love the song.

Yeah, I agree that it will probably be on the new album, unless Dave is considering it for a follow up to Some Devil some time in the future.
I just try to never hold my breath anymore in trying to figure out what this band will do next, after the absence of just about every Summer 2004 song on Stand Up (except for Hello Again and JoyRide if you can count that as being on the album) and then the subsequent disappearance of all of them, including Hello Again which was actually on the album.
But I'm still a huge fan and still excited to see every setlist for surprises like Dreaming Tree and bringing back Sweet Up and Down.

It's an all around good song. It is very original musically and the metaphors inside it really make it a well rounded song. Its really about a lot of things and thats how you can tell who a good artist is. A lot of people watch the video and say "What the fuck is this? Its a guy swinging around in a chair getting shit put all over him." But you really need to watch it and appretiate his talents.
I actually do enjoy the version that Dave released. It's not something I can listen to a lot but I think it has a cool sound. I like the unique, artistic, creepy feel of it. I wouldn't mind seeing it on the new album.

Still sucks live though with the band.
I liked it live, too.
