I just had my guitar strung with the Diadario mediums i read somewhere he uses. I like it, it's like a new toy. Try what ever you want, why not.

I get the D'addario EXP coated lights. They last a long time and i like the tone. But i think i want to try something different. Are there chrome acoustic strings? I think that would look cool on my black guitar. "Black Beauty"

use uncoated strings to sound more like that. granted you will have to change them more (once a monthish), but they really do sound great! and they are cheap.

I personally use martin uncoated lights. Also, the pick you use makes a huge different in the sound coming from the guitar, obviously. And then, finally, the pickup and mic placement/technique also has a huge impact for dave's sound, since it's recorded. An acoustic coming out of an amp and a straight acoustic will never sound exacltly alike, hower.
