Good book for Music Theory?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Good book for Music Theory?

Post by Smaegol »

Is there a good book for learning Music theory you guys/gals would recommend?

Im tired of tinkering around and learning songs without knowing the theory behind all of this. Seems like Im missing out on alot..

Thanks

Ive heard good things about a series of books called the Guitar Grimore, they have one for scales and modes, chords and voicings, and progressions and improvisations. Ive never used them so maybe someone who has could give you their feelings on them but theyve been recommended to me. Or maybe there are some other suggestions?

"The Elements Of Music" by Ralph Turek is what the univerity here teaches their theory class with. I have a copy, and it's really really good.

It's a text book, and it cost about $60 used.
