Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?

I like that (a little too dave influenced, but i don't have doubts that you can produce better stuff). Post more, please.

Wow! Thats really good. I don't think it sounds like dave that much. And even if it did, its good your influences come out in your music. When someone says: "I think its too dave influenced." They are a retard(especially if you are a musician) because your influences should be everywhere in your music. I like your voice. keep it up. If you have anything else you should post it somewhere.

Cheers,
Jack

P.S> What kind of guitar do you have?

I think what he meant was that the chords in the beginning are really similar to that of Grey Street (or at least thats how i see it). Its nice and relaxing though. Your voice is nice to listen to. Its not as rivetting as I usually prefer my music but its still quite listenable. Maybe vary the 3 string plucking to finger picking every now and then. I think you've got a good launch point here. Hopefully you can keep working with it and chizzel out a real nice song. As it stands, its got some good potential.

I guess the dave resemblance shows in the chords im playing. Im basically playing "dave" chords: being what he uses in Grey Street, Tripping Billies, the jam for LIOG, I think Lover Lay Down, Too Much, JTR etc. except im using a capo on 3. However, dave did not make those chords up, he made them, for lack of a better word, popular. As far as my voice, it could have some dave influences but i couldnt tell you cuz when i hear my own voice its different then when a third party hears it and tell you what you sound like.

You've got a great voice. I would like to hear more of your stuff. The guitar part did seem like you were playing grey street or tripping billies, etc with a different strumming pattern. You are right that Dave didn't invent those chords, but you are using them in a very similar progression to what he does in so many songs, so I agree with Pat that it sounds very Dave-ish in that regard.

Keep making your own stuff though, and posting it on here.

I know exactly what you mean their. I sing and then i listen to it later and it sounds pretty different. I think thats the story for any singers.
