Hey man, really good job. For me, this is a really hard song to sing and play at the same time, and I noticed that there may be a few times where your vocals suffer a little bit because you are concentrating on the guitar part, or you rush a guitar part because you are concentrating on the vocals. That'll iron itself out in time though the more you play it. And actually, as i listen closer to the end of the song it seems like you pulled it together really well. You nailed the emotional part. Solid cover dude!

Sounds fine. Not your best. I personally dislike it because I think it's WAY too fast here. I know it's a cover, but the best part of this song is it's personality, which I think comes from it's tempo and dynamics. Try to work on your vocals in the chorus more than anything, when you get up FLYYYYYY, etc. Other than that it was fine. The guitar sounded good, a bit percussive at times, but good. Keep at it!

Very good cover, singing is pretty good and the guitar is overall very solid.

My only critique would be that you are playing to hard on the guitar to the point that the strings are hitting the neck.

Try playing with only your fingers from now on, the tone is so much better, especially if its a solo acoustic performance.

A great quote from ryan adams when asked how his guitar playing has changed as he aged. He said "I play guitar like I'm touching a woman, I used to play like I was touching myself!"

Point is, be more delicate with your playing and you wont have to strain your voice much to sing over it.

Good Job though, let's see some originals man!
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?

im always writing original stuff, i never finish anything anymore. i write maybe one good verse and thats all i can get from one idea

john - does it sound better in the first chorus when i step it and go a little higher or the second chorus when i keep the note solid?

i definetly play pretty hard, for some reason when i start singing thats what i naturally do.

and i cant hit those notes without being real loud... sigh

Keep it solid. Don't force anything. If it's forced, typically the pitches will strain. That goes for anyone. Relax yourself and feel it when you go for that note. Try practicing playing the song without a pick and strumming with your finger/nail and you'll be able to hear yourself better.

Just heard the original for the first time yesterday, so I wanted to check out your cover.

I'm really impressed, man. Good work. A few rough spots vocally, but nothing too bad by any means.
