Once again DMB fans in Canada get shafted for a summer show
It seems like every other year DMB does one show during the summer in Toronto. They played last summer in Toronto but in 2005 they played during the early days of the Winter Tour. Actually believe that it was in 2005 that the summer date in Toronto which wound up being moved due to the Red Rocks weekend shafted us Canadians out of the summer shows. I really prefer the summer gigs because they are usually at the outdoor venue, the Molson Amphitheater which is not only a cheaper venue ticket wise, but the seating is far better and the sound is better for concerts. When I saw DMB in Toronto at the Air Canada Center I shelled out 85 dollars for a single ticket for freaking nosebleeds, yet in 2004 at the Amphitheater, front row seats at most cost 77, whereas they are 150 at the ACC. This is what I am really getting annoyed about, cause I hate the indoor gigs at the ACC because they are a ripoff, not to mention you get homeless people begging for money inside the tunnels just outside the stadium.
DMB shows attended: 4/12/05 - Molson Amphitheater, 9/12/06 @ Air Canada Centre.
Upcoming: DMB June 9th 2009 @ Molson Amphitheater

I know I am ranting, but I really feel like I am getting ripped off for concerts in Toronto. The Rogers Center and ACC are both two of the most expensive concert venues in the city, Massey Hall and the MA are both far cheaper for seating. I know the band only gets a certain percentage of the profits but I highly doubt most Americans are getting charged out their asses for tickets to see a band that would normally be cheaper at other venues.

If this becomes a constant thing where we get left out of summer tours I wont be too happy. I have been to one summer show and one winter show, and seriously the summer show was far better, not to mention a whole lot cheaper.

Its not the driving that bugs me, since I am only like 45 mins away from Toronto on a good day traffic wise, an hour and a half tops. Its the fact that since the winter tour shows are inside, there are only a couple of good venues in Toronto that seat a lot of people, the Rogers Center and the ACC. Mind you most concerts are not bad at RC, just that the sound quality bites and there is a lot of echo since its a dome. The ACC is a stadium and I know that DMB loves to play those kinds of gigs, however its an expensive venue, I guess I shouldnt complain when tickets for a hockey or basketball game there are rediculously overprice (500+ bucks for a front row seats at a Leafs game, or 800-1000 for a courtside seat at a Raptors platoff game). So its either you get charged more to see a band play at an indoor venue which is expensive or an outdoor venue where its cheaper.checkii wrote:too much whining. there are plenty of peopel in the states that have to drive just as far if not further to see them.

Are you comparing the 5 million people in Toronto to Montana? I'd be shocked if Montana even came close to having 1 million people.hofdaddy wrote:I'd like to hear what the good people in Montana have to say about not getting a summer show
I have to agree with this, I could care less about the venue, lets get them to show up first.
