Re: Mic question

I think you might be hearing a bit of high EQ boost which I think is the way the Senn's are voiced and it will result in a certain crispness with some people's voices. If I'm right, and if that's what you like, give Beta versions of Shure's 58 and 57 a try. I use a Beta 57 A for vocals and I love it...

Re: Singing question???

I like to drink wine when I'm singing for some reason...but the best for my voice is hot tea, preferably green tea. Honey in the tea helps too. Even warm water helps. Anything warm pretty much will do the trick, even like hot cider. Don't go for hot chocolate though or anything that can cause you to...

Re: Strings

I don't have the link available but I remember Monk telling us on the Road Page Blog that Dave actually uses the EJ17's in phosphor bronze, not the EXP's which are D'Addario's version of Elixirs (albeit differently coated). EXP's are priced close to 15 bucks, EJ17's are at like 6. Maybe someone can ...

I have the neck rack or whatever it's called and prefer Hohner blues harps. I would definately recommend the Hohner Blues harps. Very easy to bend and have a more mellow tone than some harps which I think sound too bright (of course it's all personal taste). There is a recording of me playing the bl...

Thanks for the reply. I've never heard of the Black Keys, I'll have to give them a listen. I'm interested to hear if anyone has any other comments/suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Allman Brothers Cover Band...for now

Some fellas from my former band joined up with some new guys this past summer and we formed a new band which right now is mostly an Allman Brothers Cover band. More covers and originals are in the works, but for now, we recorded a half decent demo with the help of some friends who have a digital rec...

We played our first show with the new mic this past Saturday night and wow, I'm really damn happy with my purchase. Thanks everyone for your help. I might have a video coming up soon so I'll post a link if I get one so you can hear the vocals. I can't tell you how many people told me we had the clea...

so after all that, I bought a SM Beta 57A for 130 plus tax at a local music store. I A/B'd and there was no question I liked the 57 more. The hotter pickup will be sweet for my needs and well, I just plain old liked what I was hearing. Though I liked what I read about the Sennheiser model, not being...

so i'm topping an old thread of mine because I never broke down and bought anything... I've been reading about the Sennheiser E-835S. Most of the reviews seem to indicate it's a better buy then the SM58. ( I do like that it has a flat grill and it's frequency response is better). Opinions, experienc...

Well, Thanks everyone for the help. I ended up gettin the DD-6 simply because it does have a lot more potential than the RV-5 in terms of versatility. I'm not entirely satisfied with the reverb like settings you get from the DD-6, but I still have much more playing around to do with the settings. I ...
