The 50 looks amazing, could one even play that guitar outside of their home?

I just picked up a 1986 Martin D35 (lefty) from craigslist and i love it.

if you budget between $1K and $2.5K you can purchase an amazing instrument.

i prefer martins and i did notice that you can get more for less ...

Dave Matthews' style and lyrical approach has made millions of kids think that they could pick up an acoustic and be a rock star. His style, his attack, he's the best at what he does.

If you need a PA, goto craiglist or research on musician's friend. You don't need that much for smaller solo gigs, you'd be surprised.

If the house has a PA you should only need at minimum a Direct Input Box, cables and your instrument.

Assuming the house PA has a board you can plug your PC into the board with I think rca cables.

If you're live btw I'd ditch that studio mic and consider an industry standard like a Shure SM58 ...

Dave's tone does not suck.

And an acoustic guitar, no matter how sweet it sounds out of the case is irrelevant.

Good electronics, pickups, preamps etc. make the tone in a live setting and not the guitar itself unless you are using a blend system/mic which Dave does not use.

I make this argument all the time. Professional musicians like the guys in DMB are professionals, they don't work fucked up. Has Dave and the rest of the band ever been drunk or high on stage, I'm sure. You don't achieve megastardom and stay atop your lofty perch by being a fuck up on stage.

very country (route 66) i like the sound and feel, the vocals are nice too, at times i heard patsy cline then at times i could hear a more contemporary country style of singing if that makes any sense

The levels are on point in any professionally mixed and mastered live release the band has put out.

Robert Randolph is the man, but what he does on the pedal steel buitar is nothing original nor groundbreaking. In fact that particular instrument, in my opinion has a limited pallette.
