PFWYG intro fingering

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

PFWYG intro fingering

Post by schubox »

The song isn't too bad, but the first chord throws me, what fingers do you use for this part?

Intro
E:-9\10--8--
B:-9\10--8-
G:-9\10--9---
D:------------
A:----------
E:----------

EDIT: And what does "entire song played with thumb" mean?
I think people think that maybe theres more chance I'll play if they sound mad and I'm like you guys are just pretending, I know why you go to the gym its for the steam room big boy, come in here with that '41' stuff, I see through that tiger DM 3-19

i'm actually with you on that intro part. i don't play it that way. i play it 88h1010h88. i guess it isn't the right way but i couldn't play it the way it says on the sight.
with the thumb thing... the whole song consists of power chords but you strum them with your thumb. you strum, mute, strum, mute..etc.
somebody else should reply about the correct intro......

i play the 9->10 slide barring the 3 strings w/ my ring finger then slide back to fretting the 8's w/ my index and getting the 9 w/ my middle. i dont play this song that much but i believe that was how i did it. also, playing w/ the thumb means that you dont use a pick but you still kinda do a strum w/ your thumb. i did a combo of like strumming the top 2 strings in a cord w/ my thumb and picking the bottom one w/ my middle finger but mainly i thumbed away. im gonna go play this one later. its been awhile. good luck and hope this helps cuz its been awhile. 8)

I barre the three strings with my middle finger then since my middle finger kinda ends on the g-string I just barre the 8th fret with my pointer and use my middle finger to play the 9 on the g-string. And like people said, yes, play with thumb refers to your strumming hand not youre fretting hand. Hope that makes sense.

I play it using my pinky on the high E, ring on the B, and middle on G. I slide them all up and then come back down with my middle finger still on the G in the 9th fret. I use my pointer finger to bar the two high strings on the 8th fret. May seem a bit complicated but this is how I've acheived the most control.

Yup, that's how I play it. I use my first finger on the G and second on the B, and switch them around for the second set there.

Almost...instead of the 8,8,9 for the first chord..I just bar the bottom three at 9 with m 1st finger. Sounds more correct in my opinion.
