Hey, I've been playing for about a year now and can play most of dave's songs fairly well, but the muting has always plagued me. The songs still sound pretty good, but I usually just leave pauses instead of the strummed mutes and its always pissed me off. Anyone have any recommendations on how to fix this. Thanks.
I guess maybe I good place to start would be could someone explain to me exactly whats going on with ants. I've watched videos, but I just can't really tell all of what hes doing with the left hand.
When I play Ants, I usually have my left wrist kind of resting on the bridge in order facilitate a liitle palm muting kind of thing. Try to keep your left hand moving to get those "chika-chika" noises when you mute. This does take a deal of practice, but you'll be able to do it. Hope that helps man

They are downstrums....dont get fool'd by the storytellers video if that's what you're basing it on because the audio/video synch is slightly off in ants.
That was it exactly, I was watching the storytellers video and its like right in between up and down so I was like well it could go either way, thanks for the help.
last question because i almost have it down, in the verse in the slide part after the chord strum do u play that all down strums or quck down up strums?
ok yea that makes sense about the d and g chords, and your saying quick up and down strums for the 4/5, 4, 4/5, 4. etc and 4/5, 5, 4/5, 5/7 parts after the chords?

I play downstrums on the slides and quick up and downstrums on the D and G.
Hope that helps.
