muting

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

muting

Post by fsuseminole09 »

Hey, I've been playing for about a year now and can play most of dave's songs fairly well, but the muting has always plagued me. The songs still sound pretty good, but I usually just leave pauses instead of the strummed mutes and its always pissed me off. Anyone have any recommendations on how to fix this. Thanks.

When I play Ants, I usually have my left wrist kind of resting on the bridge in order facilitate a liitle palm muting kind of thing. Try to keep your left hand moving to get those "chika-chika" noises when you mute. This does take a deal of practice, but you'll be able to do it. Hope that helps man :D

Thanks for the response, I'm making some solid progress. Quick question, are the chords strums in the verse down strums or up strums.

They are downstrums....dont get fool'd by the storytellers video if that's what you're basing it on because the audio/video synch is slightly off in ants. :?

I play downstrums on the slides and quick up and downstrums on the D and G.
Hope that helps.
