Rhythm for Loving Wings

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Rhythm for Loving Wings

Post by jlee762000 »

Is the rhythm really that hard to follow. I had someone give me a copy of that song. Its great but the rhythm is hard to follow. Any suggestions on how to learn it? Need serious help. JON

try palm muting the whole thing, it makes getting the rhythm down a little easier cause the open notes don't ring as long.

yeah I think Dave actually does palm mute a bit. like rest your right hand on the strings really close to the bridge so that it doesn't mute to much. you get me? it gives a cool sound.
good, and you?

Where the strings come out of the body of the guitar, rest the palm/heal of your hand on the strings and play a note. I would also try playing the song with a pick. Another tip, print out the tab and record the song to tape, take the song and the tab to guitar lessons and ask for help  My instructor was always cool with me brinning stuff in. Good luck

I underestimated how tough it is to play and sing this at the same time. The rhythm is pretty easy to pick up, I play it with all hammer-ons and offs and it sounds almost like what Dave plays and I can't get it perfect. Definitely looks like it's easy to play but it's more complex than people think.
