Gibson Les Paul

I am looking at getting an electric guitar now and I've had my eye on a Gibson Les Paul for a while now. I was wondering what exactly are the differences between the Supreme, Classic, Standard, and Studio? Any information on these guitars from somebody who doesn't work for Gibson would be really helpful. This is my first post by the way.

I have a standard and all I know is that it is heavy as shit and makes my left shoulder hurt.

hollow body guitars have the potential to be amazing, that is if you are willing to avoid the cheap-o ones.

they are heavy because it's just solid wood with electronics.

Here's my thoughts on the different models:

Standard - the most well rounded Les Paul
Studio - just like the standard, just less frills on it. I have a studio and love it.
Classic - open pickups, and it's harsher and crunchier.
Surpreme - has a flamed maple top, and more little pretty things, nothing different in electronics

I would say get the studio, it's the best buy, and you don't lose any sound on it.

If you want a lighter Les Paul for less money, look at a Faded Les Paul. It's got a flat body, no arched top. They sound as great as the standard or the studio, just with no frills, and less wood.

I agree that Les Pauls are heavy guitars, but a lot of electrics are. My KH-602 is a tank, and pretty heavy. You more or less just condition yourself to the guitar and get used to it after a while.

If your back seriously hurts because of a guitar, I'd see a doctor.

heh heh... no its standard size, but its a kit so the quality is average

The Juniors weigh just as much as a Faded, and has the exact same body and cuts and everything a faded has, except it's one pickup on them, single coiled. They aren't bad guitars at all, they are about 600-700. Artists like Green Day use them.

I also never stand with my les paul, unless I have to. I normaly sit.
