I know that there is software/equipment that will record a song, and slow it down so that you can hear the chords more clearly and learn to play by ear. But, I don't know what its called....anyone able to help?

Also is there anything that will record a song and allow you to take the vocals out, and isolate the different instruments?

that's the one i couldn't remember i think.

and yes, the second one can most certainly be done (removing vocals at least, isolating instruments would depend heavily on the different instruments. the technology basically relies on isolating vocals and instruments by their frequencies, so if you have instruments that play in the same frequency, then it wouldn't be able to isolate them that i know of.) but would cost a pretty penny to do it well. CEP has a vocal cut filter that works decently.

but like if you have a dave and tim show you couldnt seperate those two parts?

Not effectively. Theoretically, it's possible, considering Tim's guitar is usually a lot bassier than Dave's (which would be a different frequency), but it would require a ton of work.
