metronome is a good tip, but other than that, practice with repetition

first, just practice with your hands. Count it out, and playu it. Easiest way to think of it, just say the word broken down. 1-trip-let 2-trip-let. And always remember the alternating hands and not just the right hitting eery down beat.

i don't know if this is what BK is talking about, but try this:
with your left hand, keep a contant beat: 1, 2, 1, 2
and with your right hand, try and do three beats for each two on your left

Code: Select all

L:1 2
R:1 2 3
and repeat

we learned to count them in "dig-a-dee"'s, if you can make sense of that. thats how you toungue them on a brass/woodwind insturment, and another thing off BK's, i use trip-a-let, with no # in front just because i think its easier, then pick up where you need to. ie trip-a-let trip-a-let 3 4 would be a measure in 4. i just think its easier to syllabize (nameology?) lol but whatever floats your boat

I take every gif I watch (which is A LOT) with a humongous grain of salt. But I don't let that grain of salt get into my eye and blind me to whatever truth can be found in what I'm watching. He is not any worse than any other poster here, and the people who claim he is just don't know what they're talking about. The demonization has gotten ridiculously out of hand.

why is there a flam in there? If it is just a straight triplet with it should just be alternating hands. Here is a measure phrase so you can see how the hands are suppose to land.

Code: Select all

1 trip let 2 trip let 3 trip let 4 trip let
R L R L R L R L R L R L
notice how the downbeat switches hands everytime.

One and a Two and a Three and a....same thing as BK. watch the downbeat, it can get tricky if you think about it while doing it.

that is probably the worst way you can count a tuplet... that is usually how you can a eighth and two sixteenths pattern

Also called "swing eigths" or "shuffle". Very different than triplets indeed.

not exactly, there is only one sixteenth note in a swing eighth.

no, what tictacs wrote had three notes per beat, swing eighths have only two per beat
