Post that simpler stuff. I'd like to hear something with open chords and a simple rhythm. Make that listenable and you're grooving.

i saw it, and played it, and felt no closer to my goal. despite what you seem to believe (and maybe justifiedly so from my gravedigger cover) i do have rythm.
I want to hear you playing it. Whether it is through AIM or a recording.

but that is your problem since I never needed you to prove yourself to me in the first place (and you did a horrible job in doing so).

This "I play much better when I'm not recording" attitude is verbal diarrhea. The point of recording is to get an accurate perception of your abilities. If you don't feel confident in what you record in means you don't do it nearly enough or, like BK said, you're just kidding yourself.

i am confident in what i record, but i feel that a recording, especially a cover, gives the listener very little sense of the kind of guitarist the person is. im not makin excuses.

yeah, becuz i can play ti with a pick, but i dont know how you'd slap the bass note. i def cant play that song fingerpicked. the toughest thing fingerpicked i can play is probably the intro to under the bridge

yea, it is all played by hand. You must nto be playing it right then if you never slap. Hit my up on AIM so I can give you acoustic recording and you can here the slapping and other nuences that john throws in there. It is a tough song if you wanna do the syncopated rythms he is doing.
