I'm just saying, that every time I give him a chance, I still find his work to be of poor quality.
There are plenty of better musicians than Tim Reynolds IMO, famous or not. You'd have never heard of this guy had he not been able to hang on Dave's coattails.

Reynolds has turned down several big record deals. Point is, he intially had the ability to be a big name without being under Dave's wings.Cor wrote:GuitarGuy305 wrote:Wow...just...wow...Cor wrote:I think it's a very shitty solo, but "strengthens my case" was a poor choice of words.btbesong wrote:what did you mean by that?Cor wrote:I've always disliked Tim. ive always thought tim's improv choices are suspect, and i've never liked any of his solo stuff at all.
but when he sits down beforehand and maps out a solo (probably with a little dave critique), as i suspect he did on luther and a couple other occasions, he is just brilliant. with a little guidance, he is inspiring to hear. but left on his own, hes hit or miss

there's no effing way tim reynolds would be / would have been famous without dave.Machtimus wrote:Reynolds has turned down several big record deals. Gervais on Rosa Parks "she was arrested but then that law was changed- but she didnt stop there, she started sitting in the seats saved for disabled people. unbelavable, she talked to the driver when the bus was in motion- did she have the correct change ready? - did she bollox!"

yeah, I really like Stream for that reason. Great album, just him and an acoustic guitar, no overdubs or crazy effects. Tim is great, but he has his moments where you just don't want to hear it.paulaitchison wrote:he solo stuff vairies,

Paul, did you listen? I'm just looking for a critique nowCor wrote:I'm not saying I'm a better player than Tim, I just dislike his style. I don't even play acoustic music that much anymore. But here, since you asked, here you go. A Coltrane tune called "Impressions" that I played with a group. My solo starts right around 3:20.paulaitchison wrote:play us somethingCor wrote:GuitarGuy305 wrote:Wow...just...wow...Cor wrote:I think it's a very shitty solo, but "strengthens my case" was a poor choice of words.btbesong wrote:what did you mean by that?Cor wrote:I've always disliked Tim. This is an improvisation just as Tim's LIOG solo was last night. That's probably the only way you can compare it, as they are contrasting styles.
