i've always thought Crush was the best produced/studio song they've ever done. it has so many tiny little sounds in there that even 12 years later, i still feel like im hearing some of them for the first time.

 I hate you guys, but yeah I've been randomly listening to the LWS today. First time I've listened to the band in a very long time, kinda hard to believe its been 10 years now since they were leaked.

1.Dave's voice must miraculously heal
2.Tim Reynolds must get an almost-lethal case of diarrhea and not perform that night
3.Use of electric guitar must be minimal
4.Coffin and Ross must be less violent with their instruments
5.Boyd must at least try to tune his violin before the show
6.Little or no songs from BWGGK must be played
(7.They must play Two Step)
1. check :) (in the entire concert, his voice cracked only twice, he was amazing)
2. he didn't play as much, and amazingly was great
3. check :D
4. check :) (coffin was absolutely extraordinary)
5. check :)
6. -
7. -

the concert was absolutely phenomenal, the Jimi Thing was (one of) the best since Butch Taylor left

glad you enjoyed it cuz you obviously haven't seen the band live much, but wednesday night i thought dave's voice was really not that great (but it hasn't been for a while, so no surprise there). tim was quieter and unexciting. coffin was unexciting. there was just as much BW as last year's tour, and we got two step and it was surprisingly anti-climatic.

I hardly listen to any DMB any more, live or otherwise. It's sad, really.

I just get the most disappointed lately with the lack of variation over the past 2 or 3 years now. I used to find it worth my money to see this band multiple times every year because you never knew what you were gonna get and it was always exciting to hope to get specific songs. Now I only go into them hoping to NOT get all the same damn songs but I still do. #41 was cool but nothing special, Proudest Monkey was a pleasant surprise, everything else was BW or mediocre versions of the same songs.

I'm glad the Vienna show was good and you enjoyed it, I'm just saying that every live show has seemed the exact same to me for a couple years now. Dale, hopefully by Birmingham they'll throw more stuff into the mix as it's later in the tour. Either way I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

The show comments are cool:
Salem College is an all-girl school in Winston Salem. I got a call
from Carter about 4 that afternoon telling me they were coming into
town. They had a local sound company come in and do the PA, Jeff was
on FOH. Probably about 50 or so people there. I ran a matrix from
my AT-813's and a stereo feed from the board, thru my Yamaha MM10
Portable Mixer. Mainly board, very little room, very clean
mix. This was in the cafeteria of the school. NO ONE (including the
band) has this, there was a DAT in the FOH rack but Jeff didn't bother
to roll it.

This show doesn't appear on any of the sites (antsmarching, etc.), so
it's one of those "lost shows". Except for about 10 seconds of
diginoise/droput in the 2nd set where the tape got chowed when my
3700 was screwing up, it's PRISTINE.

This is hot DMB, when they were NOBODIES and had no idea they were
going to break. They're just a hungry young band, trying to make
it out of Charlottesville. The "Rick" that Carter is dedicating
Halloween to is ME!

The band had originally asked me to sit on this (in '94). It's been
long enough that I don't think they'd mind it getting out. My master
is the ONLY COPY of this show.

Please show me the respect of passing this on as you've found it, and
including this text file (signed & unmodified) in any upload.

Enjoy!!
