They played at the tiny college in my home town and I had no interest in going at the time. Still kicking myself for that.

To be fair, I was 15 and not really into DMB a whole lot yet. Not to mention I didn't play guitar and had no idea who Tim Reynolds was so I thought it would be boring watching just two guys on guitar. Un-fucking-believable when I look back on it.

Edit: I'm downloading this right now just so I can hate myself a little bit more.

I can't fault you then. I just knew D&T played there a while back. And that setlist is nasty.

Everyday, I'll actually go back and listen to that here and there, I haven't gone back to Big Whiskey since the first week I don't think.

I'm only 6 songs in on this show and I want to throw myself down a flight of stairs for missing it. Aside from the obnoxious crowd, this is so amazing. I don't even really care for Too Much a whole lot and this version was awesome. I can't believe that show was only 1,700 people.

I recommend anyone that has fallen out of love with DMB listen to a show from around this time. Every song is a classic and Dave's voice/playing is perfect. Makes me want to go home, grab my guitar and play/relearn all the songs I used to know and am starting to slowly forget.

although I haven't heard many, I would venture to say Live at Luther College is one of the best live acoustic album ever released. Sure you can bring up Paco de Lucia, John McLaughlin, and Larry Coryell, or various other solo acoustic acts. But to me, the tightness of Matthews and Reynolds playing, accompanied by some of Matthews best songwriting and singing puts L@LC on its own level. It's a very honest performance.
This album cemented Dave and Tim as artists and performers of the highest caliber, plain and simply put.
Whenever I think of how much Dave's artistic integrity has been corrupted, I think back to this album, and the first three albums.
I like my coffee with toast and jelly
But I'd rather be licking
From your back to your belly
I'll cut Dave some slack, considering he co-wrote many of the songs on BW, but come the fuck on.

I've said this before, but I'm kind of over the band. But I just love Dave and Tim shows. I can listen to them over and over.

Listened to some of the Central Park Concert recently, and I really miss Butch in the band. Added some depth to the band which made them so much more interesting back then. I think the Central Park CD will probably be their last good release (imo)
