i dunno bout that kinetic energy stuff. i can play it just fine at full speed and its completely finger picking, not really that close to strumming. watever

K, newbie. First of all, Mayer doesn't copy Dave's guitar style at all. If anybody, it's Stevie Ray Vaughn or Buddy Guy or another blues god he's copying (more like borrowing). Second of all, you sound really ignorant running around saying stuff like that. I don't care for Mayer too much, but come on dude. Grow up.

hey "dude" i wasn't asking for your opinion, because i don't really recall yelling your name out to put me down for stating mine. I could care less what other people say, its their opinion, they have the right, i wasn't putting anyone one down for stating theirs, nor should you, i don't want to hear you complain. And "second of all" as some one would put it, just because i'm new to this site doesn't mean your better than me, and have some sort of higher rank to be able to lable me as "newbie". Shut up and let people state their opinion. Take offence when its directed to you.

I think Dave is better because he created a completely new style. He is still pretty damn good if you ask me. JM may be the better player, but DM is better over all. His lyrics are way better also.

No, I don't think I'm better than you. Sorry for the newbie comment, I know that's not right. But hobo, really...do you have to go around saying somebody's a blubbering vagina? That whole, "he should probably kill himself" comment is what I thought was wrong. C'mon man. If this is a debate about who the better guitar player is (which by the way, should go away) then feel free to state your opinion about that. I encourage it.

You know your right, i was kinda out of line about some of the comments i made, i was just trying to get my point across. I just think John Mayer is a pretty bad artist(again just my opinion). By the way did anyone see the interveiw with John, where he slammed dave matthews, it was kinda hidden, but i picked up. it went kind of like this. --" if i feel i don't like music anymore, or cant make good music, i'm not gonna sell out and make a new flavour of icecream.--Ie- the show was on sell its of MTV

No I didn't hear about that interview. I've heard about him bashing dave though. That's weird to me, because I've also heard him say very good things about Dave, like how he likes his songwritting approach. Anybody hear that clip of him on some radio station doing a Dave impression? Funny stuff.

that is the worst comparison i have ever heard. John Mayer is nothing like Dave Matthews, but even less like Buckley. Buckley had arguably the most original voice to come out in the last decade, and played guitar in a manner nothing like Mayer of Matthews.
