Lesson in humility

This is the place to talk about guitar playing not done by Dave! Topics about techniques, styles, theory, and other guitarists go here.

I gotta get in on this one...first of all superman is an exceptional guitarist, and I am sure he benefitted greatly from the lessons has he taken. Everyone CAN benefit from guitar lessons, because there is ALWAYS something that somebody else knows out there that "you" don't. The person with the guitar lessons DOES have the edge...However, even though superman does play guitar well, and can add things very nicely, I have to go with gcom on the fact that the dave songs superman plays aren't right(esp. say goodbye, two step, R&R)...but that may be due to the fact that he has put in his own twist to make it sound different or something...and as far as the tab books go.....They Suck! I would trust this website over the tab books any day of the week!

1. Every one chill out. Lesson/self-taught/etc. threads occur on every guitar board, and they always will. They always get heated. But please, try and keep this one civil, k?

2. I think lessons probably can help everybody. I've never taken any (been playing for about 15 months now). My main reason is time. I play when I can, but it's rarely at the same time everyday. Sometimes I don't even get to pick up my guitar for a week, and that's just the way it goes.

3. Did I mention calm down? ;) ;) ;)

wow, that was some of the most embarrasing "4" pages of argueing that i feel stupid for waisting my time reading it. i wanted to post a few coments about the tab books and theory but i didn't want to get "in it" so i'll just leave it at that. if you want to argue just send each other personal emails instead of posting it for everone else to see.

honestly, any message board where arguing isn't allowed is just pointless. we'd all be zombies if we didn't disagree with each other...
