i can't say anythign abou this without coming off like a dick.
all i'll say is I completely disagree and am thinking negative thoughts on you.
GSR wrote:I hate the idea of this. A greatest hits album will pretty much be all of their singles on one cd. bullshit.
well i think that's why they're surveying the actual fans...the "true" fans will pick more than just their singles..otherwise i don't believe they'd even ask us. they'd just throw all of their singles on the thing.

i dont think negative thoughts on you andrew, but i completely disagree.
i was a mild fan of pearl jam before their greatest hits album "rearviewmirror" came out. my friend picked it up and we listened to it, and i loved it. i then went out and picked up their album yield. i proceeded to buy all of their albums and now consider myself a pretty big fan. if people like me find out about dmb this way, im all for it. in the case of me and pearl jam, i am kicking myself for not getting into them soon, but i feel better late than never. to the pearl jam fan-base, maybe i come off as a younger, lamer, mtv fan, but i dont think so.
if ppl find out about dmb how i did pearl jam, im all for it.

thank you for sparing me.
I just feel like most of us here wouldn't need a greatest hits cd, at least if it was only studio tracks.
And I'm assuming anyone has access to the voting right? I think more casual fans will be voting than more serious fans, just like there seem to be more casual fans at shows today than serious ones.
i just went through that list and was trying to be very conscious of which songs i was choosing, knowing i could only choose ten. the first time through i chose 17 and thought i picked very carefully

well i suppose there is always the chance of that happening. I've just never thought highly of greatest hits cds.

me too. I'm gett'n nervous. I love this band and even though it's selfish, I dont want them to break up until I get sick of them....which will probobly never happen.
I want to see an 80 year old Dave walk on stage to his 70 year-old fans and play a kick-ass concert. WOO HOO

i disagree 100%. typically only the die hards actually read the emails and know of these things.
and you said new, not existing fans. I think greatest hits albums RARELY bring in new fans because they are always hits that have already gone over the public once before. if you didnt pick up then you are likely not to pick up after.
i have a feeling they're going to call this greatest his compilation like an actual name, and some of the newer fans are going to think it's an actual new album, haha.

why is everybody saying this is the end of DMB becauseof a greatest hits. Red Hot Chili Peppers came out with a greatest hits and they didnt break up so did Greenday, Pearl Jam, and lots of other bands. For a lot of fans this is useless as alot of us have all these songs already. I like that its live songs though and not studio recordings because Im sure alot of people have only heard them on the radio and dont know what they are really capable of. And those who say its just going to be a cd of singles I dont remember #34 or #40 being on the radio alot of the songs on that list were not singles. I do not think this means the end of DMB. Stefan the person who I see leaving first shows no signs of being tired of DMB. He is always talking about how much fun he has. I think there will be major signs letting us know that they are breaking up. anyway im done rambling

im pretty sure that's a list of all their songs. excluding a good amount of covers, but their common covers are on that list.
