you guys just have to agree on something. if its all different songs it makes it more difficult to judge, but it could be very interesting. i' not opposed to an originals contest. whatever you guys want to do.

well, we're never going to come to a decision like this. I'm going to start a poll on this thread.
1 - all do the same song (a dave song)
2 - all do the same song (nDMB song)
3 - all do different songs (originals only)
4 - all do different songs (anything goes)
5 - all do different songs (theme based)
we'll get more specific after everyone votes. ***Please do not vote unless you're planning on competing***
Just an observation... if we all did different songs, how would that be different than the current setup of the dmbtabs r and c message board? As it stands, we all record different songs, and post them. We might as well just go back and pick a winner from the last 20 posts.
What? That would be impossible, you might say? Why... because they are all so different it would be too hard to choose just one? Besides, what is the standard? How would a single guitar track stand up to 77 cello tracks?
Bottom line: the contest would kinda be all over the place if we were allowed to just do our own thing. It would be like a race in which people were allowed to use wheelchairs, bicycles, jet packs, or cars, and the finish line would be different for each participant.
Obviously there are some of us that are really out to win. I was thinking this would be a fun way to get people recording(something they might not otherwise) and see what they come up with. The "competition" part of it should be secondary. Unless we're competing for a legitamate prize than I don't see the point in emphasizing the competition aspect of it.
I completely understand if that's how it goes down though.

Yeah, I'd just like to hear more recordings from a wider variety of people. It seems like there's the same group of people in here all the time, let's hear some new talent!
