Is John Mayer a better guitar player than Dave Matthews?

Has Dave ever needed to play a solo. I really think Dave underplays his abilities when he is with the band or Tim. He doesn't seem like he needs to be the show and the highlight every time. Listen to solo shows and his guitar playing is better in my opinion.

Well, I got to about page 4 and gave up. I can see that it's going to be basically the same argument over and over and over again. I can see why this thread needs to die a horriable thread death.

He had a little solo in Jimi Thing on Listener Supported.

.....John Mayer = can play any Dave song as good or better than Dave.
Dave Matthews = writes all the songs that John wishes he'd written.
