I like the first inversion but the third inversion has an edgier quality to it. The second inversion would be the hardest to work with.

gah! i never remember which one goes in which order... yes, it seems i have a weekness

besides, its easier to deal with inversions on piano...

The first inv. would have the third at the bottom. The second would have the fifth at the bottom and the third would have the seventh. I played piano for a couple weeks and couldn't believe the ease of adding inversions. I really would like to start playing seriously. It's the best instrument after the guitar of course.

try this:

Em7 C Dadd9(add4)

if you want, download shane barnard - breath of God. shane everett (the other guitarist) actually plays with a capo on 1 to make it an Fm7 C# D#add9(add4), but you get the general idea.

the easiest way i can explain it is this: its when you change chords and two or more of the notes move up at equal intervals because of the change
