The Terrible Stone

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Willin, you're the man, your instructional video on the stone answers all the questions that i had in one go. I think that it is probably the most useful instructional video for the stone i have seen (because you make comments as well), so thanks a lot for that, now i have most of the things i need to learn the song. I mean there is a slight different sound in the intro if you look at this version of the stone:

I palm mute slightly with my right hand during the verse. It doesn't make too much of a difference whether you choose to palm mute slightly or not - so for beginners it would probably be easier for you if you didn't.

the slight difference that you hear is Dave not playing the slight pause in the main riff. Instead he plays an extra note in *that* version. The way I am playing it in the video is the way that the album version is played.

i think live it helps to play that extra note to help keep time because you don't have to pause. i think i usually just mute that "note" when i play... i can't remember off the top of my head how i play it, but i don't think my right hand stops, but i still get that pause effect by muting the note where the pause would be.

p.s. here's another good solo vid of dave playing the stone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuqGNSYE6Mc
